"Why is Gaza exceptional?" asks Scottish-Palestinian Dundee City councillor Nadia el-Nakla, who’s married to Scotland’s First Minister Humza Yousaf.
In this Real Talk interview, we sat down with el-Nakla in Edinburgh for a personal conversation on the fear and desperation her parents experienced while being trapped in Gaza under Israeli bombardment.
She speaks on why an immediate ceasefire is needed to alleviate “the hopeless situation” in the besieged enclave, and also shares her childhood memories of Gaza.
We filmed this episode a day before el-Nakla’s parents were allowed to leave Gaza through the Rafah crossing.
